Welcome To The Rockford Files Blog

I want to welcome everyone to a blog dedicated to, in my opinion, the Greatest Detective Show EVER on Television, THE ROCKFORD FILES.   Starring Hollywood Legend James Garner, co-starring, Noah Beery Jr., Joe Santos, Gretchen Corbett, James Luisi, Tom Atkins, Luis Delgado and Stuart Margolin as Evelyn "Angel" Martin, ROCKFORD began as an emergency script during a writers strike in 1973 causing the producers of the series TOMA, Roy Huggins and Stephen J. Cannell, to rush a show on the air to cover an air date they were going to miss due to the strike. Steven Cannell wrote the script and had such a good time writing it, that by the time he was finished with it he had a 90 minute pilot script.   ABC didn't like it.  Fortunately, someone at NBC did, and when Jim Garner was looking for a new TV series after the cancellation of NICHOLS (Jim's personal favorite of all his series work), Roy Huggins told Steve Cannell regarding his script, "You know what you've written?   It's MAVERICK as a detective!   Garner was sent the script, liked it immediately and the pilot was filmed in early 1974.  The series was picked up and THE ROCKFORD FILES started it's six run on September 13, 1974.  This blog is open to comments from fans of the show, ROCKFORD Crew Members and actors on the show.  We will have some stories you may have already heard, and some you haven't.  Like the set of THE ROCKFORD FILES, this is a casual place to hang out and talk about Jim, Rocky, Angel, Beth, Chapman, Diehl, Billings and all of your favorite Rockford characters.  Welcome, I hope you enjoy it.
